Wood Care

Hopefully, you are reading this because you bought an Evening Grain cutting board or other woodcraft! To get a long life out of your cutting board, follow these simple instructions.

Gently wash with warm water and dish soap. Rinse and dry well. Apply mineral oil every three months, or when the wood looks and feels dry. Allow oil to absorb for 20 minutes, then wipe away with a soft, lint-free cloth.

If you have a tray, which is a single piece of wood with long grain, avoid heavy chopping and slicing. This will scar your board.

If you have an end-grain cutting board, which has many squares and blocks, you don’t need to worry. They are hardy and meant for chopping.

Although we have sanded the boards, you may notice some of the grains standing on end after you wash it that give it a fuzzy feeling. You can lightly sand your board with 220 grit sandpaper, rinse it, and reapply mineral oil.
