Walnut Cutting Board (part 3)

Clamps are off. I was dealing with a bit of illness, so I left the clamps on for 3 days. At least I know the glue is good and set. I have been leaving the glue beaded instead of trying to wipe it off because it ends up being easier to knock off with a hand planer.

I’ll sharpen the planer before too long. I have been gluing a sacrificial board to the end of the cutting board and passing it through the bench top planer and I’ll do the same with this one. The internet has 2 sides of this argument, but I’ve never had a problem with the end boards. Here is a a good video on sacrificial rails: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJ2LSj4RhAs .

Anyway, I want to get both of the cutting boards ready to plane so I can do them at the same time. I glued up the other 3-purple heart block cutting board. Kristy came down to make me pay bills.

As you can see, this second cutting board has a lot of cracks in it. I’m hoping to fill them with epoxy. I have a number of other projects that need filled similar to this, so I plan on doing them all at the same time. It’d be great to get them done in the next few days, but we’ll see how it all works out.
